Honest field notes · survivalshovel.com

Stop your shovel spinning — without the overland tax.

You don’t need a $189 branded bracket to carry a shovel. Here’s what overlanders actually run, and the upgrade if you want it locked down.

The complaints are always the same: the shovel spins in its mount, the cheap rubber rots in the sun, and the “proper” brackets cost more than the shovel. Here’s the honest version.

What most people should buy

Quick Fist Original Clamp (2-pack) — ~$12

The universal, proven-since-2003 rubber clamp. Holds a 1″–2.25″ handle, mounts with one bolt. A $12 part does what a $189 bracket does for most rigs.

The honest catches

Spinning, theft, and UV-rot

Quick Fists can let the shovel rotate, and the rubber degrades in years of sun. If you mount on an exterior rack in a hot climate, plan to re-check it — or step up to a locking clamp. We’ll tell you which locking options are worth it (and which aren’t).
